Hello! I'm Rachell M. Dumas, RN, BSN, MSN(c), a registered nurse, entrepreneur, and the founder of A Light After Nine. Originally from the vibrant city of New Orleans, I evacuated to Atlanta following Hurricane Katrina, where I began a successful career in healthcare. My passion for helping others is deeply rooted in my own experiences and the challenges I’ve faced along the way. I transformed my pain into purpose, using my journey inspire and support those in need.
My path to motherhood was filled with heartbreak, spanning four years and marked by eight miscarriages and a stillbirth. These significant losses led me to establish A Light After Nine, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting women and families as they navigate the emotional and physical trials of infertility and pregnancy loss. Through this initiative, I provide resources, peer support, and advocacy, aiming to instill hope and healing in those who need it most.
As a healthcare professional, I am dedicated to combating health disparities and improving access to care, particularly for women of color and underserved communities. My mission is to ensure that every woman receives the support and care she deserves on her journey to motherhood.
Alongside my work with A Light After Nine, I serve as a keynote speaker and maternal health advocate, sharing my experiences to help others facing similar challenges. I emphasize the importance of resilience during difficult times, seeking to inspire and empower my audience. Additionally, I am writing a that details my personal journey of resilience, loss, and hope.
Based in Atlanta, I remain committed to advocating for enhanced healthcare, support, and resources for all women, especially who have encountered infertility and pregnancy loss. My efforts are driven by a profound dedication to positively impacting others' lives and fostering a more compassionate and equitable healthcare system for everyone.
